Meanwhile, unions in Greece called a general strike and the streets of Athens filled with demonstrators, but the Greek parliament went ahead and passed the next set of austerity measures designed to bring the country in line with the requirements of the Troika.

In other news, a recent three-day outage of Blackberry service in the Middle East contributed to a significant reduction in road accidents, up to 40% in some countries.
